The Ultimate Spring Cleaning List

to do list

Spring is such a beautiful season known for its themes of resetting and new beginnings. Think of this as your three-month check-in for the year. How are you feeling about it so far? How are those New Year resolutions going? If you haven’t remained faithful to them, don’t beat yourself up for it; just make changes now.

One of our main goals for the year was making sure to keep our homes well maintained, and what better time to refocus on this goal than during spring? This season is synonymous with spring cleaning, so we’ve made a list of our top spring cleaning priorities. Take a look at it, and maybe you’ll find a few similarities or even some inspiration for your own home.

Clean Your Air

There are several ways to go about cleaning the air you breathe. One of those ways is with advanced air filtration. An air filter like this will purify the air before it is pushed throughout your home’s duct system so that you can feel confident that your air is clean directly from the source.

Another is with a portable air cleaner which will work to purify the air that is already circulating throughout your home.

Clean Your Carpets

Apart from the usual wiping the kitchen counters, sweeping the floors, and washing the windows, you’ll typically find vacuuming the carpets somewhere on a spring cleaning checklist. That’s because it’s an important step for maintaining your home’s cleanliness. In addition to this, though, it’s also incredibly important for maintaining your home’s indoor air quality. How can that be?

Carpet’s fibrous nature traps dust, dirt, debris, dead skin, pet dander, and the list goes on. It’s a magnet for all of the things you don’t want to be trapped in your home, only to be recirculated and breathed in. Vacuuming them regularly will suck up all of those contaminants so that they’re unable to get kicked up and inhaled.

Clean Your HVAC Unit

Did you know that your HVAC unit needs to be cleaned? Most people don’t! We recommend doing this about twice a year. The first step for keeping it clean is clearing the space around the unit of debris, tree branches, leaves, dirt, and other nearby objects. Try to keep a 2-foot perimeter around the unit; this will prevent items from blocking the unit or getting the condenser or evaporator coils dirty.

Dirty coils will make it more difficult for them to absorb heat from the air, so your unit will have to work even harder to cool air before it enters your room. This all adds up to a less efficient unit and higher energy bills.

Clean Your Air Ducts

Air ducts are responsible for transporting air from your air conditioning unit to the rooms throughout your house. If those air ducts are dirty in any way, the air being pushed through them is likely to pick up that dirt and transport it to the respective rooms in your house.

To prevent this from happening, we recommend scheduling routine duct cleanings!
